Founded in 1975, the Italian-American National Hall of Fame is Dedicated to recognizing and perpetuating the memory of the consistently outstanding contributions by Italian-Americans to their communities, the country and the world. The founders, all Italian-American civic leaders in the New Jersey area believed then as they do now that positive identification and exposure of the contributions and accomplishments of Italians and Italian-Americans in the community life of the United States is their continuing responsibility.
In the Hall of Fame’s Constitution, the organization states its purposes as:
“To promote and organize events and programs paying tribute to persons of Italian ancestry who have contributed to American culture and history”.
“To pay honor to those Italian-Americans who have brought credit to themselves, their families and to the United States and let their names take their rightful place with the many Italian-Americans who have helped make this country as great as it is”.
“To salute those who have contributed above and beyond by words and deeds to the welfare of our community, our nation and our Italian-American brothers and sisters”.
“To pat tribute to law enforcement officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty by presenting our prestigious ‘Medal of Valor’ posthumously”.
“To reach out in charitable service and fellowship to those in need,by providing financial and necessary support”.
“To award at least two(2) college scholarships each year,to deserving Italian-American young men and women”.
The distinguished honor roll of inductees in the Italian-American National Hall of Fame today is testimony to the acceptance and support which the Hall of Fame enjoys among untold thousands of Italian-Americans.
We look forward to many years of continued growth, the establishment of a permanent structure to house the Hall and the expansion of the Italian-American National Hall of Fame’s activities to encompass all facets of civic life.
The Italian-American National Hall of Fame has enjoyed a continual broadening of community support because of its non-political,not-for-profit recognition efforts for the accomplishments of good citizens of Italian heritage.
